Carlos Villanueva is Not Henderson Alvarez.

Carlos Villanueva has one of the best swing and miss rates in baseball (thank you Jonah Keri) so if you’re wondering whether he’s another Alvarez, he ain’t. Swing and Miss stuff is like Obtanium (or whatever that crap was they wanted in the movie Avatar). It’s a precious commodity. Jays have a month to get him cheap-ish. I hope they do because once he hits the open market this off-season, a market with very few value/effective starters, his price will go up, up, and away from Toronto. He’s not an ace, but he might get paid closer to one if the market shifts in his favor. I advise (and I know they don’t care but…) the Jays to start a dialogue. I also advise they make it mandatory for Carlos to keep his mustache.
