Padres/Dodgers Fight!
*Carlos Quinten is the most plunked hitter in baseball. You know he has some regressed hitter rage just waiting to get out.
*CQ says that this was because of some history he had with Zack Greinke from 2009. What? That was 4 years ago- if you’ve been waiting around that long get even, try counseling.
*This was not a mound charge situation; full count, one run game… it’s not intentional, it’s accidental.
*Hell yes Zack Greinke said something after the pitch was thrown. CQ is standing there, 4 feet in front of the plate mean-mugging Zack. All he need to say was “what?” in a stand off-ish tone and that bull was going to charge. Carlos was just waiting for an excuse. A pitcher is taught to own an inside pitch. That’s standard baseball. Rattle the hitter, even if it was a mistake.
*I don’t think that Zack getting hurt in that brawl is something CQ should be punished for. A brawl happens, people can get hurt. Zack could have back away and let his first basemen get in front of CQ.
*Bottom line is, the Padres know it was CQ’s fault. They were apologetic about it afterwards. They have to back their player once he gets into the fray, but the wish they could have taken it back.
*You want to talk about long memories. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Dodgers are going to remember this with the Padres. It will now be open season on Padres hitters and that’s a serious factor. Every time a game gets lopsided one way or another, Padres hitters are going to have reason to sweat at the plate.
*This is also bad for Padres fans because you don’t want to start any drama in Dodger country. That’s gang country and those rivalries can end bloody.
*This was not good for baseball. But, in a way, it might good for the dodgers. Fights have a way of bringing a team together. It will be interesting to see how this team plays from here on.
*Really, no need for the Dodgers to waste any time on the Padres. They’re going to be in the basement all year. The name of the game in baseball is still winning, and the best revenge is a season played well.
*I feel bad for the bullpen since they had to run all the way from center field to get into those fights… just to stand there, chests out, trying to look like they could do something tough.
*The last time I saw a brawl this big in San Diego, Ron Burgandy was involved. Rick Killed a guy. There were horses, a man on fire, and Brick Tamland threw a trident.

*Billy Butler has his own Barbecue sauce. Billy’s hit it a ton foundation has his own it’s own Sauce. Actually a pretty good cause since every time Billy. Every time he hits a homer, he donates a tone of food. Every time he hits a double, he donates a half ton. How many tons of food do you think he’ll donate this series if the Jays keep pitching like they are?
*MLB is purchasing documents from Ex Biogensis employees and hopes to use information from to prosecute players. How on earth is that going to work? How do you get ex employee documents to hold up in a prosecution attempt.
*The Angles are off the worst start they’ve ever had since 1961, when they were an expansion team. And they just lost Weaver? Is there season, in that division, already over? Last year they were off to a bad start and unable to come back. Can they come back from this one?
*The Jays pitching staff is struggling. Is it time to look at what they are bringing to their starts and feel some fear? I think there is certainly reason for concern… Buehrle knows what it’s like to pitch in the AL, but that was back when 90mph wasn’t a distant memory for his fastball. Josh Johnson, on the other hand, is just know getting a taste of the AL and so far he doesn’t really like it all that much.
*Bats hate cold weather. Just ask the Blue Jays. But if you ask the Tigers the same question, they certainly don’t have the same answer… Why not. Are the Tigers just that good, or are the Jays just that cold? Maybe they need some hates for their bats, Pedro Serrano style?
