How to get Your Book Signed

How to get your book signed:

Step 1: At the time of writing this, I am (or was?) a Durham Bull. However, team affiliations in baseball are a fickle thing and change often. I could easily be some other mascot by the time you get around to reading this. To better keep track of what team I belong to, It’s best to go to a website that specializes in following baseball players and their current affiliations. I suggest this one: www.Milb.com. Search for my name and you’ll find my stats, history, and current team affiliation.

Step 2: Every team has a stadium. The Bulls have the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, or, the DBAP. If you do some Internet searching, you’ll find the stadium that I play at and it’s address. That stadium address is where you want to send your book too, so copy it down and make sure you write on the envelope that it’s for me, Dirk Hayhurst.

Step 3: Make sure to put a self-addressed, pre-paid, return enveloped in the envelope you are shipping your book to me in. This way, I can just open the package, pull out the book, sign, put it right back in the fresh, pre-paid package, and send it straight back to you. It’s the most seamless way to do it. I won’t pay to ship it back to you—sorry—so if you don’t have proper return postage, or don’t include a self-addressed pre-paid envelope, you’ve effectively sent me a free copy of my own book.

Step 4: Wait with bated breath by the mailbox.

Step 5: Enjoy your signed copy of a Dirk Hayhurst book! (All your friends will be so jealous, they’ll fight to get close to you so they can brag to their co-workers, your parents will be proud…)

IMPORTANT: If it’s not baseball season, this method wont work because I wont be at the stadium, I’ll be home, or someplace else. Maybe on a boat, or a plane, or a Garfoose? You never know. I don’t give out my home address, so if you want a book signed in the off-season, you’ll have to catch me at a book signing, or buy a signed copy from a vendor I sign stock for.
