Attention Graphic Artists

Attention graphic artists.

I’m working on a IOS baseball video game parody and need a talented graphic artist that knows baseball and how to draw, animate, and characterize 2d pixel sprites of baseball players that look and feel like real MLB players (if only slightly characterized for the genre of 16 to 32 bit sprite video games). Previous work in video games is a huge plus but not a must—being really F-ing good is a must ;-) . Applicants need to understand baseball, the way its players move, and the nature of it in animation. If you’re interested contact me on my contacts page and send some samples of your work. If I follow up, I’ll ask you for a single sprite in a couple of poses so we I can see if your vision is compatible with my own. You won’t be compensated for this sample, think of it as an audition that could land you a nice paying gig and a chance to break into the gaming scene. You can send your resume, but what I want to see is your portfolio—your art makes it stand out and I’ll just ask you to show it to me anyway! I’m specifically looking for pixel art & game sprites, work in other mediums will be considered secondary. If you have questions, feel free to ask. If you’re not serious, have never done this work before, don’t apply. And don’t send me leads to people you think would be cool—serious interests only.

Dirk: Have you read The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach; it is a nice coming of age novel with college baseball players as the main characters. I really liked it. Curious on your thoughts if you have read it, and I highly recommend it if you have not.
